EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
Have a Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized university or the Bar Council of India.
Be enrolled as an advocate under the Advocates Act, of 1961.
He must be practicing as an advocate in the Supreme Court of India or High Courts or District and Trial Courts in the Country and must have so practiced continuously for a period of not less than three years.
Meet the age limit, which varies by category:
General category: Candidates must be under 40 years old.
Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST): Candidates must be under 45 years old.
Category II(A) or II(B) or III(A) or III(B) of Other Backward Classes Candidate must be 43 years old.
Ex-servicemen: Candidates are eligible for a three-year age relaxation.

Mains Examination : Descriptive Exam (Written Conventional Type)
Interview : Viva-voce (Personality Test)

PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION
The Karnataka Judiciary Prelims Exam is scheduled to be conducted for a total of 100 marks, with each question carrying one mark. The exam duration is set at 2 hours. The Preliminary examination consists of three objective-type papers:
Part A - Civil Law, Part B - Criminal Law, and Part C - General Knowledge.

Minimum marks for pass in the Preliminary Examination is 50 for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes or Persons with Benchmark Disability category and 60 for others.
MAINS EXAMINATION
The Mains syllabus is divided into four papers:

Law Paper 3.
In mains each paper will be of 100 marks.
Translation Paper
Translate passages from English to Kannada and Kannada to English.
Passages will be from depositions, judgments, and documents.

The Indian Evidence Act, 1872 and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023
Principles of Pleading and the Constitution of India.
Law Paper-II
Framing of Issues and Writing of Judgments in Civil Cases.
Law Paper – III
Framing of Charges and writing of Judgments in Criminal Cases.
Note: The candidates are permitted to write the Main Examination either in English or in Kannada.
Minimum marks for pass in each paper of the Written Examination is 40 for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes or Persons with Benchmark Disability category and 50 for others.
INTERVIEW: VIVA VOCE
The viva-voce, or the Interview, is conducted for 100 marks. You'll be evaluated on your general knowledge of the law, suitability for the post, and other essential qualities required for a civil judge.
Minimum marks for pass in the Viva-voce shall be 20% marks for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes or Persons with Benchmark Disability category and 25% marks for others.
COMPUTER TEST
This section carries a maximum of 25 marks, and it's designed to assess your computer skills and overall suitability for the role.
