JAMMU AND KASHMIR JUDICIARY SYLLABUS AND ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

A Bachelor’s Degree in Law from of a University established, or

A Barrister of England or Northern Ireland or a member of the faculty of Advocates in Scotland or any other equivalent law degree recognized by the Government of India.

 

AGE LIMIT

A candidate for direct recruitment to the service must have attained the age of 18 years and must not have attained the age more than 35 years.

 

SCHEME OF EXAMINATION: 

Preliminary Examination : Objective and Multiple Choice Type 

Mains Examination : Descriptive Exam (Written Conventional Type)

Interview : Viva-voce (Personality Test)

Physical Fitness Test.

PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION 

The exam will be conducted for 2 Papers.

Each paper carries a maximum of 225 marks.

The duration of each paper is 2 hours.

The prelim question paper is divided into two segments, part 1 and part 2. For every correct answer 1 mark will be awarded.

The prelim exam is further divided into 2 papers- Paper A and Paper B. Given below is the detailed JKPSC Civil Judge Syllabus as a ready reference:

The Indian Penal Code, 1860

Rules and Orders for the Guidance of Subordinate Courts (Civil and Criminal) and Circular

Orders issued by the High Court.

The Registration Act, 1908

The Transfer of Property Act, 1882

The Jammu and Kashmir Residential and Commercial Tenancy Act, 2012.

 

MAINS EXAMINATION

The Main Examination shall include compulsory and optional papers and every candidate shall take all the compulsory papers and three out of the optional papers.

Each paper carries a maximum of 100 marks. 

The time allowed for each paper shall be three hours.

INTERVIEW:VIVA VOCE

The viva-voce test carries a maximum of 140 marks. The object of viva- voce examination is to assess the candidate’s intelligence, general knowledge, personality, aptitude and suitability. 

PHYSICAL FITNESS TEST

No person shall be appointed as a member of service unless he/she is in good mental and bodily health and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of his duties as Member of the Service. Before a candidate who has passed the examination is finally approved for appointment to the service, he shall be required to undergo an examination by the Medical Board arranged for by the Commission for which he will have to pay the prescribed fee.
