
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
A candidate for the direct recruitment to the service :
(a) Must be a citizen of India;
(b) Must be a holder of degree in law granted by a recognized University established by law in India.
(c) The candidates must have practiced for a minimum period of 3 (three) years .
AGE LIMIT
Must not have attained the age of 35;
Must not have completed as on the last date fixed for receipt of applications 38 years of age in the case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes and 35 years of age in the case of others.
SCHEME OF EXAMINATION
Preliminary Examination: Objective And Multiple Choice Type
Mains Examination: Descriptive Type (Written Conventional Type)
Interview: Viva- Voce ( Personality Type)
PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION
A Preliminary test consisting of objective type questions of 100 (Hundred) marks.
Each question in the preliminary test shall carry 02 (two) marks.
The duration of the Preliminary Test will be 2 (two) hours.

(i) The Indian Penal Code, 1860 (IPC)/Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (BNS)
(ii) The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (CrPC)/ Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (BNSS)
(iii) The Indian Evidence Act, 1872 (IEA)/ Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 (BSA)
(iv) Limitation Act, 1963
Part- II
(i) Constitution of India
(ii) Code of Civil Procedure, 1908
(iii) Meghalaya Urban Areas Rent Control act, 1972
(iv) Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.
MAINS EXAMINATION
The Mains examination will consist of -
Paper on English i.e. Paper I, Law Paper-1 and Law Paper-II will be of 100 (one hundred) marks each.
Paper on local language (either Khasi or Garo) will be of 70 (Seventy Marks).
Duration of the written examination will be 3 (three hours) for the first three papers and 2 (two) hours for the local language paper.
Total marks for written test in the second phase is 370 (three hundred and seventy).
